Green Narratives Uganda (GNU)

Housing Finance Bank (HFB) has partnered with the Uganda Energy Credit Capitalization Company (UECCC) to launch a UGX 5 billion credit facility aimed at accelerating the adoption of renewable energy solutions in Uganda.

This initiative is designed to increase access to clean energy technologies such as solar power, clean cooking solutions, and energy-efficient equipment, supporting the country’s commitment to sustainable development.

At the launch event, HFB Managing Director Michael K. Mugabi expressed the bank’s commitment to providing green finance, emphasizing that investing in sustainable energy is both a responsibility and an opportunity for economic growth.

โ€œThe facility has the potential to empower Ugandans by providing access to financing for clean energy technologies, thereby addressing climate change and expanding energy access,โ€ highlighted Roy Nyamutale Baguma, Managing Director of UECCC.

The collaboration aligns with Uganda’s Vision 2040 and the Sustainable Development Goals, which prioritize the transition to sustainable energy sources and aim to reduce reliance on traditional fuels.

The new credit facility aims to bridge energy gaps, making renewable energy financing more accessible to households, businesses and off-grid communities.
